Rabbi Zev Friedman and his Family

Rabbi Zev Friedman, his wife Hindy, and their four children are the spiritual force behind our synagogue. Rabbi Friedman grew up in Chicago where he attended Jewish Day School and Telshe Yeshiva High School. His studies continued in Jerusalem, Israel and Ner Israel Yeshiva in Baltimore, Maryland. His previous position was as a Rabbi on staff at the Columbus Community Kollel, a Jewish adult education center in Ohio. In addition to Rabbinical Ordination, Rabbi Friedman has earned a Bachelor of Talmudic Law at Ner Israel Rabbinical College as well as Masters of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University.

When asked why he came to Calgary Rabbi Friedman replies, "The people in my synagogue have so much inside of them. Together I know we can make our synagogue a place filled with spiritual energy and excitement because Judaism has so much to offer and so does each congregant".

Hindy is orginally from Montreal and is active in all facets of women's programming at the synagogue. Additionally she is a very popular teacher in the community where she is able to put to good use her education from Israel and her professional credentials. Rabbi Friedman claims his wife is his biggest asset.
